Salt or Mineral Pool — What Are You Actually Swimming In?
THE QUESTION WE HEAR FROM POOL OWNERS
“I don’t want a chlorine pool. I want a mineral pool.”
The surprise? A mineral pool is not chlorine-free. Both salt and mineral systems still use a sanitising process. The difference is what is added to the water and how the system works.
SALT vs MINERAL — VISUAL COMPARISON

SALT POOL
What goes in the water?
Pool salt
Does it use chlorine?
Yes. A chlorinator converts dissolved salt into sanitiser.
THE KEY MESSAGE
THE SURPRISE? BOTH STILL SANITISE THE WATER.
Salt systems use dissolved salt and a chlorinator to create sanitiser. Maytronics Mineral Swim uses Dead Sea Minerals with mineral chlorination. Mineral Swim PRO configurations also incorporate ozone purification.
Maytronics states its ozone purification can reduce chlorine demand by up to 80%.
AROUND 98% OF OUR POOLS ARE MINERAL POOLS
Around 98% of the pools we currently build use Maytronics Mineral Swim with Dead Sea Minerals. We still install salt systems for some clients, but mineral is now overwhelmingly the more common choice.
Cityscapes currently uses Maytronics pool equipment including pumps, filters, chlorinators, cleaners and heat pumps. Spa Electrics is used for lights.
A softer-feeling swimming experience.
Reduced reliance on chlorine when used with the ozone-equipped Mineral Swim system.
100% Dead Sea Minerals.
A coordinated modern pool-equipment system.
The overall swimming experience and water feel.
IT’S NOT JUST WHAT’S IN THE WATER
Behind a beautiful pool is an equipment system doing the work. Cityscapes currently uses Maytronics equipment across these key systems so the equipment package can be considered as one coordinated part of the pool.

SO… SALT OR MINERAL?
Both can keep a pool clean and sanitised. The choice comes down to the system, the swimming experience you want, equipment requirements and budget.
At Cityscapes, the overwhelming majority of pools we currently build use Maytronics Mineral Swim with Dead Sea Minerals while salt remains an option for clients who prefer it.
