Mt Samson Custom Pool
A real project. A real journey. See what actually happens between the first day on site and the final reveal.
Built with care. Built to last.
The Brief & The Challenge
The client requested a large family pool that would complement the house, capture the sun and mountain views, and integrate with the property’s expansive, undulating landscape.
The key challenge was to connect the house’s two levels externally while providing easy access to the pool from both. Positioning the pool perpendicular to the house followed the site’s contours and preserved the views from the upper veranda.
This project is the perfect example to show what goes into a custom concrete pool – from engineering to finishes – and why every stage matters.

Build journey – 7 stages
We measure and mark out exactly where your pool will go. This ensures everything is in the right place before we start.
Homeowner Tip
This is the moment you can finally stand in your backyard and see where your pool will sit.
We dig out the hole for your pool. This is a big step and the moment your backyard starts to change shape!
Homeowner Tip
Don’t panic – at this stage your site can look dramatically different from the finished backyard.
On sloping sites, we build strong concrete piers and beams. These support the pool, keeping it solid, safe and level.
Homeowner Tip
The part you’ll never see may be one of the most important.
We build the pool using a reinforced steel framework and install the plumbing at this stage.
Homeowner Tip
It may look like a cage of steel now, but you’re looking at the bones of your finished pool.
Once the concrete shell is formed, the shape, depth, steps and ledges become clear. It still looks raw – because it is. The interior finish and tiles are still to come.
Homeowner Tip
Wondering why the concrete looks rough? That’s completely normal. Learn more in our Project Story.
This is where construction starts turning into design. Waterline tiles, coping and surrounding surfaces bring the pool together and connect it back to the house and landscape.
The finishing touches transformed this build into a family pool with suspended walkways, seamless levels and incredible mountain views.
