Custom Concrete Pool (Balmoral)

Awarded the Best Residential Landscape & Pool Construction at the 2018 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards, this project really showcases the impeccable design skill of the Cityscapes Pools and Landscapes team.

The brief was to design and construct a custom concrete pool for a young Brisbane family with one (shall we say steep) obstacle, a 6m slope from the back boundary to the back of the house. Oh.. and site access was difficult.

However, no challenge is too big for the Cityscapes team and we were confident we could get the job done.

Budget was a very important factor for this Brisbane family and our swimming pool design team focused on allocating the budget to the right areas to maximise on return.

The custom concrete pool was constructed 1.5m out of the ground at the bottom of the hill in order to help retain the levels.

Our swimming pool builders used the pool shell as the footing for the first retaining wall which was able to help minimise the retaining wall costs.

The top of the yard offers impressive Brisbane city views so our design team focused on this space to ensure it could be enjoyed by the family. 

Our landscaping team chose plants suitable for the warm Brisbane climate and that helped soften and disguise the retaining walls. The garden lighting was designed to make the space come alive at night.

The following pool and landscape products were used;

• Tiling for alfresco area – linen travertine (chosen by the owners)
• The Waterline is a charcoal glass used also on the blade edge
• The water feature wall has been clad in Kosciusko Stone (all of these materials came from The Pool Tile Company)
